Stephen E. Smith
BETTENDORF, Iowa--Stephen E. Smith, 63, of Walcott, died on Monday, January 23, 2012, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at the Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. The officiant will be Pastor Edith Little. Musical selections will be provided by organist, Deb Mohr and vocalist, Henry Bentley. Interment will take place in Walcott Cemetery where the Walcott American Legion Post #548 will conduct military honors.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Walcott Fire Department or the Genesis Dialysis Service in his memory.

Stephen was born on November 7, 1948, in Davenport, the son of Edward and Jeanette Smith. He graduated from the Durant High School in 1967, and later graduated from AIC in Davenport. Stephen married Linda M. Kraft on July 26, 1969 in Blue Grass.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam.

He worked for SM Farm Service, Walcott for 30 years, retiring in January 2001.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Smith of Walcott; his sons, Shawn Smith and wife, Lisa, of Muscatine, and Shane Smith and wife, Stef, of Walcott; four grandchildren, Ariel, Taylor, Tyler, Kyle; and his sister, Cindy Kelding and husband, Alan, of Wise, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
