Tjode, I'm so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I had no idea he was sick. I always enjoyed it when he came into Ace Hardware - he was always so pleasant and friendly. Know that I will be praying for God to comfort and strengthen you and give you peace.

Bill....a great friend and person. I was fortunate to have Bill as a roommate while I attended Wartburg College. He was truly one of the nicest and most sincere friends anyone could ever have!!! I feel fortunate to have known him. The grace and courage which he and Tjode faced battling his cancer can only be described as epic. If there is a more genuine and caring person then Bill.....I have yet to meet him. Bill...my heart has a huge hole in it knowing you fought such a valiant fight. Know that you left a legacy for all of us who were fortunate enough to know you. God speed my friend!

Steve and family - I am so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of working at the Muscatine Y while he was on the board. He and your mom were even so kind as to take my mom and I out to eat and show us around town when I was first there looking for a place to live. I will always remember him as being a very good hearted and trustworthy man.
I know from experience that it is "now" moments with him that you want, not memories. Trust that as time passes and healing occurs, memories will truly fill your heart with warmth and joy.
Prayers for peace and healing,
Karmen Woelber

Always a pleasure to do business with, Bill assisted me with opening my first checking account and was my loan officer for my very first car loan, followed by several more, at Central State Bank in Muscatine. A great friendship was established and Bill shared his knowledge of the banking industry to set me on the right path at a young age. He was a pleasure to visit with and his sense of humor was stupendous. In every conversation or meeting he shared some experience or story about his wife, Tjode.. Rest easy friend, you will be missed!

Roger Gust on Nov 28, 2018

Roger Gust a neighbor from Arlington: Bill was 8 years years younger than me, but always around when Carl his brother and I and whomever would go hunting or sledding down at Thomasville or whatever. Seems that if we won't busy farming, the neighbor kids would hang out together and Bill was right there. Was always a good kid who I haven't seen in probably over 40 years but I knew that he was in Muscatine and doing very well in the business world. I know he will be missed. Sorry for your loss.

When I was hired in 1978 as an eighth grade teacher at West Junior High, Bill and Tjode Nus opened their home to me; hence, a wonderful friendship developed. Bill was always the life of many of our faculty gatherings! Bill always had a smile on his face and was so easy to approach. I enjoyed conversations at faculty gatherings as well as at the Nus's kitchen table.
Bill had a calming effect on me. His farm background calmed my Chicago high energy. Bill was a generous and kind person. He was a great husband and father.
I will miss you,Bill, but most importantly, thank you for accepting me as your friend.💔
