I just learned of Matt's passing today! I don't get a newspaper and never saw anything online, but have been very concerned since I noticed the Tread Shop didn't appear to be open. I found out by calling the Tread Shop tonight and hearing Karen's sad message. I'm totally in shock and so sad for you Karen and Matt's Family. I haven't cried in some time, but I cried today. I've known Matt since he was a young man working for Steve Curry in his garage in south end. Then mainly dealing with him through working on my vehicles at the Tread Shop. I never knew Matt well, but I knew him. Any regular Tread Shop customer understands what I mean by that. Matt was a true, honest, trustworthy professional and top in his field. He was the only person I would let work on my '71 Olds Cutlass. He enjoyed talking with everyone, ALWAYS had a smile on his face and that wonderful chuckle. It makes me wonder why bad things happen to good people.I along with everyone that has met Matt will truly miss him. All my love my Brother. Craig Courtois

So very sorry to hear the news. I well remember Matt as one of my MHS students, sitting in the front row, always polite and respectful. He truly was a trusted mechanic, always going above and beyond what he needed to do to provide outstanding service to a big following of dedicated customers. Blessings to Karen and his family during these very difficult times. Every time I need an oil change or new tires, I'll think of this wonderful guy, taken from us way too soon.
