VINTON - Marian M. Kemp, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Virginia Gay Annex in Vinton. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist church in Vinton. The Rev. Walt Nickel will officiate. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Kemp was born on July 28, 1914, at Grandview, the daughter of Ralph and Lydia Katherine Dietrich Zimmerman. She married Felix Rex Kemp on June 11, 1937, at the First Baptist Church in Muscatine.She graduated from Grandview High School. After completing her education she worked at the Muscatine Journal and worked at the Missions in Chicago. They moved to the community of Vinton in 1945 where her husband became the minister at the EUB Church in Vinton. She enjoyed her flowers and the company of her cats. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.Survivors include her four sons, Jerry Kemp and his wife, Virginia, of Binghamton, N. Y., Larry Kemp and his wife, Kathleen of Vinton, Tom Kemp and his wife, Shirley, of Marion, and Tim Kemp of Vinton; two daughters, Janice Ericson and her husband, Ed, of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Kathy Stockdale and her husband, Raymond, of Iowa Falls; a sister Freda Hoag of Muscatine; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rex; and two sisters, Mildred and Nona.
