Kenneth Kemper MUSCATINE, Iowa - Kenneth E. Kemper, 79, of Muscatine, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at the Muscatine Care Center following an extended illness. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Dwight Mansfield will officiate. Pallbearers are Dale Harris, Ronnie Soenksen, Jim Dipple, Dennis Kemper, Larry Kemper, Gary Kemper and Lindy Woods. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery with military rites conducted by the combined units of the VFW Post 1545 and the American Legion Post 27. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established in his memory. Mr. Kemper was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Muscatine, the son of Ellen Scott Kemper. He married Lois Pace May 5, 1962, in Muscatine. He served in the U.S. Army-Air Corp during World War II as a sheet metal mechanic. He farmed in the Muscatine area, worked on highway road construction and also worked for International Harvester, retiring in 1984. He was a charter member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 111 and past member of the V.F.W. Post 1545. He liked to spend time outdoors, especially tinkering in the shed. Survivors include his wife, Lois Kemper of Muscatine; sons, Gary M. Sill and his wife, Audra, of Muscatine, David E. Kemper and his fiance, Sharon Jeffries, of Marion, Daniel K. Kemper and his wife, Chris, of Fruitland, William L. Kemper and his special friend, Tina Sloan, of Muscatine, Randy R. Kemper and his wife, Buffy, of Muscatine, Jeffrey P. Kemper of Galesburg, Ill., Roger G. and his special friend, Lisa Alhf, of Fruitland; daughters, Barbara J. Chambers of Muscatine and Sandra J. Harris and her husband, Dale, of Wilton; 14 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; brothers, Robert W. Kemper and his wife, Betty, of Muscatine and L. Robert Kemper and his wife, Jenny, of Muscatine; and sisters, Wilma Duke and her husband, Milo, of Missouri, Shirley Walker and her husband, Al, of Davenport and Erma Stephens of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen.
