MUSCATINE, Iowa - Betty A. Brewer, 87, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at home.
Private family graveside will take place in Cottonwood Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Chapel of Praise Church of God. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Betty was born on April 30, 1935, in Trenton, the daughter of William and Mae Neff Alliman. After her mother's passing in 1937, Betty went to live with her maternal aunt and uncle, Glenn and Anna Garrett. She married Paul Brewer on February 1, 1954. He preceded her in death in September of 2018.
She was a member of Chapel of Praise Church of God, Good Sam's State Chapter, and the local Pearl City Chapter.
Betty loved music and had a green thumb. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, gardening, camping, and traveling to Arizona during the winter months. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Sue and Mike Pasterkiewicz of San Diego, California, Paula and David Wright, Roy and Penny Brewer, all of Muscatine, Paul 'P.J.' and Angela Brewer of Irvine, California, and Jolene and Reverend Michael McAfee of Nashville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Christopher Wright, Emily and Mark Kelting, Renae and Henry Yahn, Jessica Pasterkiewicz and partner, John Solis, Nicholas and April Dieckman, Katrina and Josh Kerr, Reverend Matthew and Molly McAfee, Morgan McAfee, and Angel Wu; her great-grandchildren, Phoenix Dyer and husband, Corey, Ethan Dieckman, Noah Yahn, Beau Dieckman, Abigail Yahn, Hannah Kelting, Connor Kelting, Rosalei Dieckman, Emma Solis, Hunter Kerr, Malachi Kerr, Lucy McAfee, Asher Dyer, Gracie Kerr, and Miles McAfee; several nieces and nephews; very close sister-in-law, Elnora Arp; and special friends, Johnny and Joy Helgesen.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one great-granddaughter, Sadie Kerr; and three siblings, William Alliman, Duane Alliman, and Wanda Nayadley.
P. J., Paula, Roy, Jolene and families there isn't any need to express sorrow for the passing of someone who lived their life to share Christ in everything she did and that was Betty. I always felt I had a glimpse of Christ just before I saw it was Betty walking (almost running) toward me. She was a strong leader, an unbelievably hard worker and loved Paul as closely to the way she loved her Lord as is earthly possible. We will forever treasure our memories of the two (can't think of one without the other) of them as friends as we remember all of you in prayer for comfort and the anointing she walked in daily.
