SHARON KAY PETER
ALGONA, Iowa - Sharon (Sherry) Kay Peter (Ballenger), formerly of Muscatine, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023, at her son's home in Perry, surrounded by her children.

Sherry was born January 30, 1942, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Ray and Dorothy Milum Peak.

Sherry was a hairdresser and owned her own salon for over 20 years. She married Larry Peter in 1979 and made her home in Algona for over 40 years.

Sherry took pride in her home, especially at Christmas, when she and Larry would win awards in past years for their decorations. Sherry enjoyed gardening, doing crosswords, reading her daily devotions and keeping up with her growing family. Anyone who knew Sherry, appreciated her sense of fashion and timeless beauty. People were always in awe when finding out her age. Sherry loved being doubted as a senior citizen, even into her late 70's.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Larry, her son, Kevin and wife Angie Ballenger, her daughter, Kim Crossfield and son, Kyle Ballenger. Sherry had 4 grandsons, Shane Lee Ballenger, Tyler Lee and wife, Michelle Ballenger, Dalton Lee and wife, Megan Kron, and Brandon Lee and wife, Katie Ballenger; a granddaughter, Natalee Ballenger; 3 great granddaughters, Nora, Ava Lee, and Riley; and 3 great grandsons, Wyatt Lee, Dawson Shane and Tucker Lee.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; brother Robert (Bobby) Peak; sister-in-law, June (Babe) and grandson, Shane Lee Ballenger.

Funeral arrangements will be made by Ralph J Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with burial at Greenwood Cemetery.

A private family ceremony will be determined at a later date.
