MUSCATINE, Iowa - Sarah Gerels, 78, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Premier Estates.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Island Cemetery. Chaplain Scott Minteer will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jason Gerels, Arron Gerels, Virgil Bierman Jr., Rick Bierman, Rod Bierman, Howard Brooks Jr., Andres Brooks.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Sarah was born on February 3, 1945, in Muscatine, the daughter of Marion 'Pappy' Rolland and Grace M. Hathaway Snyder. She married Joseph J. Gerels on September 28, 1963, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2007.
Sarah enjoyed gardening, fishing, knitting, and putting puzzles together. She loved spending time with her family.
Sarah is survived by her children, Jay Donald Gerels and Jeffrey Dean Gerels; grandchildren, Jason Jay Donald Gerels, Arron Scott Gerels, Kelsi Nicole Gerels, Latisha Lee Brooks, Joshua Dean Gerels, Amanda Marie Gerels, and Joseph Jay Donald Gerels II; several great grandchildren; siblings, Rolland Snyder, Daryle Snyder, and Connie Clester.
Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents; children, Tina Marie Gerels and Debbie JoAnn Gerels.
