MUSCATINE, Iowa - Dean Fletcher, 97, formerly of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Silvercrest Garner in Davenport, IA.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Pam Saturnia will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine County Honor Guard and/or Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com
Dean was born on November 12, 1925, in Muscatine, the son of Herschel and Irene Smith Fletcher. He married Doris J. Metzger on June 2, 1946, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death on June 29, 2002.
Dean proudly served in the United States Army during World War II where he received many decorations, including a Purple Heart and three Bronze Battle Stars.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Throughout his life, he enjoyed the outdoors-fishing, camping, and vacationing to their condo in Branson, Missouri. Some of his hobbies included canvas painting and woodworking, taking pilot lessons, bird-watching, playing cards, and being entertained by his grandkids.
Dean is survived by his daughters, Carrie (Randy) Schuhow and Cathie (Gary) Adkins; his grandchildren, Lyndsay and her daughter, Hannah; Kayte (Vaidas) and children Ellis, Davi, and Iva; Joe (Katie) and children Dori, Drew, and CJ; Kimberly (Morgan) and daughter Nora Jean.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris; parents; and sister, June Cracker.

I was so saddened to hear of the loss of your father! He was such a dear man! Fond memories of sleep-overs at your family home, Carrie! Mr.Fletcher was always so kind and patient with our shenanigans! Thinking of your family during this time!
