ALEDO, Illinois - Mary Thompson, 85, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at University of Iowa Hospital.

Mary was born on November 5, 1938, in Aledo, Illinois, the daughter of Everett and Ruth Steele Wakeland. She married Jerry Thompson on September 10, 1971, in Joy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2011.

She enjoyed cleaning, talking, and loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Mary is survived by two sons, Leon Thompson and wife, Sarah, of Muscatine, and Steve Thompson and wife, Alicia, of North Las Vegas; seven grandchildren, Kelsey Thompson (Sam Taylor), Mallorie Thompson (Alex Kemp), Maddie Thompson, Ella Thompson, Nichole Doak (Zach), Bricen Lane, and Nicholas Wilson; and six great grandchildren, Avery Doak, Braden Doak, Xander Lane, Lincoln Kemp, Willow Kemp, and Wyatt Kemp; and three siblings, Roger Wakeland, Dixie Krueger, and Michael Wakeland.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; one granddaughter, Brittany Wilson; and two siblings, Melba Place, and Lane Wakeland.
