CALVIN TAYLOR AKERS

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Calvin Taylor Akers, 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Harmony Utica Ridge.

There will be no services. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family, in care of Rhonda and Darren Williams. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com

Calvin was born on August 9, 1938, in Plymouth, Illinois, the son of Adron and Florence Vogler Akers. He married Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Box. They would have been married for 54 years in August.

Calvin was a member of the Masons, County Music Association, and the Florida VFW.

Calvin lived his dream by being the lead guitarist for the Nashville Stars. He enjoyed building and rebuilding cars and air boats. He loved sitting in the garage with Dottie waving at the neighbors, pulling pranks on people, riding his Harley, flying planes, and was a pool shark. Calvin enjoyed traveling with his Maltese, Pickles, as she was his co-captain. He loved spending time with his family, especially his wife, Dottie.

Calvin is survived by his wife, Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Akers; children, Rhonda (Darren) Williams, Kristy Stahler, and Edwin (Krista) DeWitt; grandchildren, Sandra (Jaramie) Moore, Jon (Lindsay) Covault, Ryan (Emma) Covault, Hanna Williams, Drake, Kristy, Drew, and Adrian; and great grandchildren, Ella Moore and Riley Covault.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
