CURT E. CANADA

MUSCATINE, IA – Curt E. Canada, 60, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital, after battling cancer for 10 years.

Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the Pearl. The Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family, in care of Shawn. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Curt was born on March 31, 1966, in Manito, Illinois, the son of Richard and Martha Hintz Canada. He married Betsy Conkling and they later divorced. He later married Shawn Grosjean on November 26, 2016.

Curt had a cabinet business for many years. Later, he started Muscatine Hardwoods LLC with Shawn.

Curt was a quiet man of few words, but he always had a great, wise comment to share. His family and grandkids were his pride and joy, and he truly loved spending time with them. He had a passion for woodworking with his Dewalt tools, enjoyed fixer-upper projects, and appreciated a Keystone Light beer. He also loved boating on Mark Twain Lake and was a regular at the Pearl, where he spent a lot of time enjoying the company of friends.

Curt is survived by his wife, Shawn; children, Jessica Canada and Josh (Samantha) Canada; stepchildren, Trent (Cami) Herman and CJ Breckenridge; grandchildren, Navie, Wrenly, and Mason; siblings, Mary C. Canada, Robert (Robin) Canada, and Val Van Etten; brother-in-law, Matt (Ashley) Grosjean and his daughter, Gracie; mother and father-in-law, Leo (Kathryn) Grosjean and Cynthia (Robert) Salek; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Connie Canada.
