DARRELL D. CURTIS

ILLINOIS CITY, IL – Darrell D. Curtis, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Trinity UnityPoint Muscatine.

Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2026, at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Reverend David McIntosh and Pastor Michael Haltom will officiate. There will be a luncheon immediately following services at the church.  The Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Darrell was born June 10, 1942, in Muscatine County, son of Walter Duane and Ortha Viola Burrows Curtis. Darrell first married Laura Wheeler and they later divorced, he then married Pam McKee on August 6, 1986, in Niagara Falls. They would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this August.

He worked as a fork truck driver for Bandag for 33.5 years, until the plant closed. Darrell was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, gardening, all animals and mowing the lawn. Above all else, Darrell treasured his family. He was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. He was passionate about his faith and loved his savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Pam Curtis of Illinois City, IL; his two daughters, Penny (Bob) Brauns of Muscatine, and Heidi (James) Rock of New Boston, IL; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Casey) Cottrell of Fruitland, Brandon Perley of Muscatine, Cheyenne Brauns of Muscatine, Courtney Rock and her significant other, Walter, of Davenport, Brandi (Cory) Nelson  of Tipton, Dalton Rock of the U.S. Airforce, Trey Rock of New Boston, IL, and Lexi Rock and her Fiancé, Dallas, of Muscatine; 12 great grandchildren, Cassie, Garrett, Ashton, Sam, Carter, Aubree, Avery, Emma, Cali, Harper, Chloe, and Clover; one great great grandchild, Nash; his sister, Dolores (Larry) Schmitt of Muscatine; sister-in-law, Melanie Kraklow of Muscatine, and brother-in-law, Jim McKee of Riverside, CA. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother in 1995 and his father in 1994; sister, Linda June Langan in 2014; brother, Dale Curtis; father-in-law, Clifford McKee, in 2009; mother-in-law, Dorothy McKee, in 2007; and brother-in-law, Dan Kraklow, in 2026.
