DENISE E. SVOBODA

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Denise E. Svoboda, (Niece – Niecey), 83, passed away at her home on Sunday, February 22, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society and left at the funeral home. Denise was born on June 27, 1942, the daughter of Kenneth A. and Nellie M. (Olinger) Snavely in Muscatine, Iowa.

She married Edward L. Estabrook on February 20, 1966, at the Musserville United Methodist Church. Ed passed away on January 13, 2004. On October 18, 2013, she married Jess Svoboda at the Chapel of Praise.

Denise was a graduate of Muscatine High School, class of 1960, where she participated in the band playing the flute. Having a great love for people, Denise was a caretaker at the Hershey Nursing Home and the Muscatine County Home. She was a volunteer for the Muscatine Rescue Unit for several years.

Denise was hearing impaired and endured many surgeries, procedures, and difficulties throughout her life.

Denise was an outgoing person, never knowing a stranger. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, working in her yard, walking, camping, animals, doing counted cross stitch giving many pieces to family and friends, having a good time, and SNOW!

She is survived by her husband, Jess; a daughter, Caroline Estabrook of Davenport; son, Michael Estabrook of Muscatine; step-sons, Steven Estabrook and Vernon Estabrook; grandson, Blake Estabrook; step-grandchildren, Michael (Angie) Garrison and Steven Garrison; several step-great grandchildren; brother, Don Snavely (Nancy Sterner); sisters, Dianne Watson and Dorene (David) Schmelzer all of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; stepdaughter, Patty Garrison; and her parents.
