DIRK MARX

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Dirk Scott Marx, 58, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at his home.

Celebration of life will take place at a later date. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Dirk was born on May 22, 1965, in Muscatine, the son of Donald ‘Duke’ and Martha McCracken Marx.  

He was a mechanic his whole life, working at his family’s gas station (Booley’s Shell), GPC, and later retired from John Deere. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed watching TV with snacks. He was likely Budweiser’s biggest supporter.

He enjoyed working on cars, eating tacos, and drinking margaritas. He loved grilling, having cook outs, and dogs, especially his granddogs.

Dirk is survived by his daughter, Mercedes Marx; mother, Martha Marx; two sisters, Christine Young (Charles), and Angela Zybarth (Daniel); and his nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his father, Donald ‘Duke’ Marx.
