DORIS RUTH HILLMAN

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Doris Ruth Hillman, 84, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Muscatine, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Ben Kane will Officiate. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery.

Doris was born on July 18, 1940, in Rock Island County, the daughter of Ralph W. Eckhardt and Eva E. Bull Eckhardt. She married Jackie R. ‘Jake’ Hillman on April 8, 1956, in Reynolds, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1995.

Doris graduated from Rockridge High School, class of 1958. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. She worked as a bank teller at the Community Bank and Trust in Muscatine until retirement.

Doris loved spending time with her family. She was a devout Christian, even introducing some of her grandchildren to love of Jesus. She enjoyed gardening, music, reading, puzzles, painting ceramics, and watching old movies with her granddaughters. She loved sunsets. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her children, Susan (Tom) Langan of Muscatine; Sandra (Mike) Kellor of Muscatine, Sally Hillman of Illinois City, and Sam (Carrie) Hillman of Illinois City; grandchildren, Chad (Casey) Constant, Amanda (Nick) Elliott, Emilee (Nick) Frere, and Magge Hillman; great grandchildren, Abby Constant, Kelsey Constant, Nash Constant, Cooper Constant, Finnegan Frere, Gabriel Frere, Shepard Frere, and Briar Bussard; several nieces and nephews; and sister, Judy Knisley.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Eva Eckhardt; husband, Jake; and infant son, Rex B. Hillman; sister, Darlene Stegmiller; brother-in-law, William Stegmiller; and son-in-law, Marty Beeks.
