DOROTHY MARIE SLOAN WILLIAMS

MUSCATINE, IA – Dorothy Marie Sloan Williams, 80, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at home, surrounded by her family.

Graveside Service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Sharon Phillips will officiate.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

A Celebration of Life to share memories will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the American Legion, Muscatine.

Dorothy was born on October 24, 1945, in Muscatine, the daughter of Walter and Evva Nicewanner Hargrave. She married James E. Sloan on September 27, 1964, in Muscatine. They later divorced. She later married Dewey R. Williams on February 17, 2008, in Las Vegas.

Dorothy retired from Allsteel after several years.

Dorothy enjoyed camping and going to the casino. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, and socializing.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Dewey; children, Trisha ‘Trish’ Sloan, Tina Sloan, Sara (Rich Pugh) Sloan, and Dewey R. (Rusty) Williams II; her grandchildren, Hunter Phelps and Alexander Phelps, Dewey’s grandchildren, Michael Williams, Dewey Williams III, and Kiara (Braydon) Lee; great grandchildren, Kiara’s twins, Willow and William and Michael’s children, Damion and Vivian; siblings, JoAnn (Wayne) Latimer and Keith Hargrave; sisters-in-law, Verla Hargrave and Lisa Hargrave; brother-in-law, Doc Livingston; former son-in-law, James Phelps;  and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Grace (Kenny) Dahnke; Jim Hargrave, Robert and Sharon Hargrave, Joyce Wagner, Irene Livingston, Chris Buell, and Denny Hargrave; nephews, David Hargrave, Matt Hargrave, Steve Dahnke, and Mark Hargrave; and niece, Pam Livingston.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice Compassus staff including Chayna Jones and Rebecca Berglund.
