DOROTHY MAE VAN ACKER

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Dorothy Mae Van Acker, 92, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Lutheran Living.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Erica Cunningham will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Dorothy Mae Wilkerson was born on May 24, 1933, in Cedar County, Iowa, to Roy J. and Elsie F. LaRue Wilkerson. She married Orville E. Van Acker on June 26, 1953, in Nichols, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1994.

Dorothy was a graduate of Nichols High School.

Dorothy was a farm wife and enjoyed flower gardening and raising chickens. In later years, she enjoyed playing Bingo.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Swearingen and her husband, Radford; sons, Jerry Van Acker and Danny Van Acker and his wife, Kay, all of Muscatine; grandchildren, Staci Van Acker, Kyle Van Acker, Julie (Thomas) Williams, Amy Van Acker, and Kelly Van Acker; great grandchildren, Theodore and Naomi Williams, and Everett Latham; special friends, Marie Blanchard, Gary and Linda Goreham; and brother, Larry Wilkerson of Arroyo Grande, California.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville; and brothers, Clarence, Carl, and Gene Wilkerson; and sisters, Betty Ash and Marian Young.
