DOUGLAS (DOUG) JOHN ‘BUZZ’ LITTREL

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Douglas (Doug) John ‘Buzz’ Littrel, 55, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the University of Iowa.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society in his honor. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Buzz was born on February 23, 1971, in Muscatine, the son of John and Diane Dahnke Littrel. He married Barbara Ridinger on May 25, 2013, at the Conesville Rodeo grounds by Jim Trosen.

Buzz was a 1989 graduate of Muscatine High School. He worked at True Value, GPC, and at Zachary driving a forklift at Bayer. He was a Boy Scout, winning the pinewood derby. He was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ and a member of the Circle of Pride, serving as Vice President.

Buzz enjoyed Old Thrashers, going to Sales auctions with his dad, and gas engine tractors. He also spent much of his time tinkering in his father’s garage alongside his family. He had a great love for all his animals, though Honey was his favorite.

Buzz is survived by his parents, John and Diane Littrel; wife, Barb; sister, Trisha Littrel; stepchildren, Terry Griffin, Toby (Samantha) Griffin, Brandy (Jade Trevino) Griffin, and Becky Nielson; step grandchildren, Leah (Orin) Hance, Lani (Justin) Stanton, Brannen Griffin, Madison (Dru) Foster, Zoey Griffin, Wyatt Thompson, Colten Griffin, and Zayden Griffen; seven great grandchildren; cousin, David Littrel; his best friend, Greg Shoppa; extended family including his uncle Jack (Sue) Dahnke; aunts, Delores Curtis, Virginia Poggenpohl, and Joann Dahnke; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; uncle, Paul Littrel; cousin, Heather; and two aunts, six uncles, and cousins.
