ETHEL JEAN LAW

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Ethel Jean Law, 95, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Lutheran Living.

A private family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine. Her grandson, Jason Law, will officiate. There is no visitation. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Foster, Jason Law, Jeffery Law, James Ludman, Randy Hopkins, James Naber, and Larry Gosset. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ethel was born on February 3, 1930, in Muscatine, the daughter of Cecil and Alma (Houvenagle) Hopkins. She was a graduate of Muscatine High School class of 1948. In 1950, she married Herbert Foster in Muscatine. After his death in 1959, she later married Lloyd Law in 1962. She worked for Muscatine Power and Water for 36 years before retiring.

She enjoyed sharing the same month and day of birth with her son, Ladd Foster, gardening, sewing, dancing, and golfing. Above all else, Ethel loved her family.

Ethel is survived by her daughter-in-law, Terri Foster; stepson, Stephen Law of Edgewater, FL; three grandsons, Benjamin (Annie) Foster of Bronx, NY, Jason (Candi) Law of Gainesville, GA, and Jeffery Law of Muscatine; three great grandchildren, Justin, Keegan, and Kenna Law; brother, Darrell Hopkins; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Ladd; sister, Beverly Ludman; brother-in-law, Richard Ludman; and sister-in-law, Betty Hopkins.
