GAIL PROCTOR HORTON

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Gail Proctor Horton, 87, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Lutheran Living.

Gail was born on May 8, 1938, in Conesville, Iowa, the son of Francis Proctor and Essie Bernice Crist Horton. He married Patricia Louise Huttenstine on February 20, 1965, in Buffalo, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2010.

Gail was a US Army Veteran serving from August of 1961 to July of 1963. His life’s passion was driving truck, especially as an Over-the-Road driver. Gail worked for Messer Gases and Gless Brothers for most of his career. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed working on trucks, old cars and reading. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.

Gail is survived by his daughter, Teresa Warshefski (Steve Baker); stepson, Randy Jones (Linda), of Muscatine; daughter-in-law, Teresa Horton (David); seven grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher, Jennifer, Suzzanne, Matthew, Jessica, and Michaela; three great grandchildren, Zeven, Kez, and Maddox; and siblings, Ronald Horton, and Donna Messner.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; son, David Horton; and sister, Mona Horton.
