GAVINO ALANIS

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Gavino Alanis, 71, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at his home.

Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Island Cemetery. The Reverend Isaac Doucette will officiate. Pallbearers will be Maria Harris, Juan Salazar, Manuel Salazar, Daniel Rincon, Michael Harris, and Rick Fox. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Gavino was born on February 15, 1953, in Texas, the son of Lucas and Paula Cortez Alanis.  

Gavino enjoyed playing music, fishing, and playing cards. He loved going to the casino with Beverly, cooking, and hosting cookouts with his family and friends. Most of all, he loved being with his family.

Gavino is survived by his lifelong partner, Beverly Razo of Muscatine; daughter, Maria Harris of Muscatine; son, Gavino Jr. of Colfax, Iowa; daughter, Paula of Marshalltown, Iowa; daughter, Dora of Valdosta, Georgia; stepson, Manuel Salazar of Galesburg, Illinois; stepdaughter, Lucy Garcia of Kansas; 19 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; three siblings of Texas, Washington, and Illinois; 13 half siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
