GRACE C. DELEON

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Grace C. DeLeon, 69, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Ss. Mary and Mathias Catholic Church. The Reverend Troy Richmond will officiate. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held following the visitation. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Grace was born on November 20, 1955, in Donna, Texas, the daughter of Lazaro and Angelina Vasquez Cavazos. She married Alfonso B. DeLeon on April 10, 1970, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2016.

Grace was a member of the Ss. Mary and Mathias Catholic Parish.

Grace loved to bowl, even being part of a team. She enjoyed playing bingo at the senior center, dancing, and going to the casino. She enjoyed Mexican soap-operas and teasing people. Grace was an amazing cook and enjoyed making delicious food and serving. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandkids and her great grandkids.

Grace is survived by her children, Sabrina (Alicia) DeLeon, LaVonne (Shawn) Elder, Rosie (Alan) Mumm, Alfonso (Debby) DeLeon Jr., and Dominick (Heidi) DeLeon; grandchildren, Celia DeLeon, Natalia DeLeon, Adrianna (Jesse) Molina, Michael Leza, Bryanna (Lerissa) Elder, and Michael Bonnichsen; great grandchildren, Julian Moore, Isaiah Moore, Jesse Molina, and Javier Molina; several nieces and nephews; and siblings, Gloria Palomares and Rene (Kelly) Cavazos.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfonso DeLeon Sr.; and siblings, Cirio Cavazos, Lazaro Cavazos Jr., Carlos Cavazos, Baldmar Cavazos, Candelario Cavazos, Jose Cavazos, Rose Saldana, Martha Enriquez, Maricela Cavazos, and Francisco Cavazos.
