JACQUELINE ‘JACKIE’ BECKER

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Becker (Wolford), 88, passed away on April 28, 2024, in Muscatine, IA. She was born on March 9, 1936, in Conesville, IA, the daughter of H. Jason and O. Frances (Chown) Wolford.

Jackie spent much of her life providing service to others as a registered nurse. She worked primarily in elder care and served as an RN in various nursing homes in Muscatine, IA. Jackie graduated from Conesville High School in 1953 and Mercy Nursing School in Iowa City in 1956. After graduation, Jackie and several beloved nursing school friends moved to San Jose, CA for one year to pursue a once-in-a-lifetime adventure while furthering their nursing careers. The group returned to Iowa in 1958 and remained dear, life-long friends.

Jackie and Larry began dating in May 1960 and were later married on November 23, 1960, at The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA. They renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary at that same church.

In her free time, Jackie enjoyed gardening, tending to her multiple flower beds, feeding the birds, listening for her Jenny Wrens to return to their birdhouses each spring, and keeping the hummingbirds supplied with copious amounts of nectar.

She is survived by her devoted spouse Larry; children Jeff (Tammy) of Muscatine, and Lynne of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Samantha (Bobby) and Benjamin; great grandchildren Lilian and Sebastian; and siblings Bill and Jerry. She is preceded in death by her mother Frances and father Jason.

A graveside service will be held on May 8, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Drury Reynolds Cemetery.  The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be assisting the family with arrangements.
