JAMES ARLEN DIVENEY SR.

MUSCATINE, Iowa – James Arlen Diveney Sr., 86, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Trinity Rock Island.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family, in the care of James Jr.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor John Brown will officiate. Private Burial will take place in Conesville Cemetery. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

James was born on July 12, 1938, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Milton and Frances Mortensen Diveney. He married Karen Patterson on October of 1960, in Muscatine, at Mulford Church. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2025.

James was a member of the Harrison Gospel Chapel. He enjoyed attending church, reading his bible, and spending time with the Lord.

James enjoyed traveling and would go on a trip every summer, almost visiting all 50 states. He enjoyed road trips, golfing, and woodworking. Mostly, he loved spending time with his family.

James is survived by his children, James Diveney Jr. (Jennifer), Scott Diveney (Orasa), and Kristina Ash (James); grandchildren, Ellis, Wes, Daylyn, Nahum, Noah, Ashly, Mackinsey, and Sydney; great grandchildren, Naomi, Nora, Nile, Lily, Hudson, and Aurora; and siblings, Pat, Sue, Sandy, Mike, and Dan.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen; brother, Milton Jr.; and sister, Jo Anne.
