Jose Martinez Campos Obituary

JOSE MARTINEZ CAMPOS

Jose Martinez Campos, age 69, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Muscatine, surrounded by loved ones.

Jose was born on March 11, 1956, in La Union de San Antonio, Jalisco, Mexico, and lived a life deeply rooted in faith, love, and service. A devoted Christian, he made it his mission to share the love of Jesus with everyone he met. Whether in conversation, through a message on Facebook, or simply in the way he lived his life, Jose never missed an opportunity to point others toward God. He read his Bible faithfully, filled his home with worship music, and trusted fully in the promises of his Savior — even through years of dialysis and heart problems. His strength, both physical and spiritual, inspired all who knew him.

But just as much as Jose was known for his faith, he was equally known for his sense of humor. Even in the toughest moments, he could make people laugh — and often did. He had a unique way of using dark humor, sarcasm, or a perfectly timed joke to lighten the mood, no matter how heavy the day. He could joke about his own health conditions with a grin and a wink, finding laughter even in pain. That humor wasn’t just a coping mechanism — it was a gift he gave to others, a reminder that joy and hope could still be found in the middle of hardship.

Jose was a rock for his family — a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose eyes lit up whenever his grandkids were near. He cherished his family more than anything and was always there with a listening ear, a strong hug, or a word of encouragement. In his healthier years, he loved to travel and explore new places, always in awe of God’s creation. His kindness, unwavering strength, laughter, and faith-filled life have left a lasting legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Martinez, and their three children: Daniel, Samuel and Abigail Martinez, their significant others and 8 grandchildren. He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including eight sisters and six brothers, who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Dominga.
