JUDITH ELIZABETH JONES

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Judith E. Jones, 80, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday December 25, 2024, at her home.

A graveside service for Judy and interment of Robert and Judy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Oakridge Cemetery in West Liberty, Iowa. A time for fellowship will follow the service at the West Liberty Country Club. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Judy was born on April 4, 1944, in Russell, Kansas. Judy was the daughter of Earl and Marjorie Baker Titterington. On December 28, 1968, she was united in marriage to Robert Earl Jones at the St. Joseph Church in West Liberty, IA. Robert preceded her in death on May 14, 2016.

Judy graduated from West Liberty High School and then from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in Physical Education. Mrs. Jones taught school in Muscatine from 1967 to 1988. Judy and Robert moved to Apple Valley, MN and she worked at Children’s World Learning Center as a Teacher. They then moved to Spirit Lake, IA and owned/operated Jones Refinishing. Upon moving to the Burlington area, they purchased and opened the Carhartt store, which was known as the Jones Company, selling Carhartt clothing. She later worked for and retired from Coach AM R.R. Crew Transport.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, and sharing the great outdoors with Robert while they traveled, camped and fished. Their lives were filled with many wonderful pets. She had a special fondness for her date of birth, 4/4/44.

Survivors include special friends Sue McComas, Sue McConnell, Dick and Cherry Kaucher, Russell and Carol Meade, and cousin Mary Loeschen, an aunt, an uncle and numerous other cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Scott; husband, Robert; and father and mother-in-law, Earl and Katherine Jones.
