JUDY KERSCHENSKE SNYDER

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Judy Kerschenske Snyder of Muscatine, Iowa passed away on December 29, 2025, at home surrounded by her family, after a brief fight with cancer.

The funeral service will be at 10 am on January 7, 2026, at Calvary Church, Muscatine, followed by a graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery. Pastor Dan Schoepf will officiate.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 4 until 6 pm at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Janet Clark. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Judy was born on November 20, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Goldie Mae (nee Haney) Kerschenske. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1976 and Muscatine Community College in 1978. She was united in marriage to Kenneth LeRoy Snyder on July 28, 1979, at First Baptist Church in Muscatine, Iowa.

Judy worked for several years at the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency as a secretary and audiometrist. Judy was a dedicated Girl Scout, leading her own troop for both daughters, and directed summer camp at Sacajawea and Wild Cat Den – to this day many know her by her camp name, “Spider.” She taught numerous children to swim while working at the Muscatine Community YMCA and continued to teach swimming lessons for many years during the summer. Judy was an active congregant of Calvary Church, serving as a helper in the nursery. She also taught Sunday School for many years at First Baptist Church. When not serving her community, Judy enjoyed tending to her plants and garden.

Judy is survived by her husband Ken, and her children Emily Snyder, Paul Snyder, and Anna (Stephen) Jones. Judy is also survived by her siblings, Carl (Rose Mary) Kerschenske, Linda (Arnie) Wilkens, Rita (Stephen) Wade, and Marvin (Ellyn) Kerschenske, and numerous nieces and nephews. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, and her niece, Rachel Wade.
