KATHERINE HARTLEY

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Katherine A. Hartley, lovingly known as Kathy, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at the nursing home, surrounded by care and compassion.

Kathy was born on May 17, 1947, to Faye and Richard Duncan. She married the love of her life, Dennis “Denny” Hartley, on August 21, 1965, and she will be deeply missed by him.

She will also be deeply missed by her children, Shelly Mardis, Jeff (Tammy) Hartley, and Bill Hartley; her sibling, Jan (Dave) Schneider; and her cherished grandchildren, Christina (Gregory) Williams, Tasha (Matt) Phillips, Melissa (Justin) Keifer, Samantha (Kyle) Bass, Matt Mardis, Blaze Kriegel, and Dakota Kriegel, along with several beloved great-grandchildren.

Kathy found her greatest joy in being a grandmother. She deeply loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the bond she shared with them will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Lutheran Living and hospice for the wonderful care and compassion they provided to Kathy in her final days.
