KATHRYN MARIE VERWERS

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Kathryn Marie Verwers, 57, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at her home.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Bryan Newswander will officiate. Burial will be in Harker Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Holden Cancer Center in Iowa City. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Kathy was born on March 29, 1967, in Muscatine, the daughter of Jerry and Carole Adkins Verwers.

Kathy was a member of the Westside Assembly of God church. She received her bachelor’s degree in education at Taylor University. Her career began at a local Christan school and ended at CHS Inc. as an administrative assistant.

Kathy had excellent needlework skills. Kathy enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher and working with children. She loved animals, especially cats. Her family referred to her as a grill master. Mostly, she loved spending time with her family.

Kathy is survived by her parents, Jerry and Carole Verwers; siblings, Daniel Verwers (Terri) and David Verwers (Carolyn); 5 nieces and nephews, Jamie, Brandon, Kayla, Austin, and Nathan; and 7 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
