KIM ALLEN ZIEGENHORN

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Kim Allen Ziegenhorn, 71, passed away from a sudden illness, on Monday, March 2, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Kim was born on September 2, 1954, in Muscatine, the son of Maurice Allen and Willa ‘Jean’ (Shoultz) Ziegenhorn. He married Satomi Iwakabe in San Diego, California.

Kim graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s in business administration.

Kim was a longtime karate instructor in Muscatine, Iowa City, and in San Diego. He received his 5th degree black belt, so he is kind of a big deal. He was a dog lover, avid music lover and enjoyed playing his guitar. Kim was the king of dad jokes and had a witty remark for everything.  

Kim will be deeply missed by his wife, Satomi; children, Craig Ziegenhorn and Julie (Daryl) Carson; grandchildren, Allyson and Cael Carson; mother, Jean; stepchildren, Christina Griffith and Sean Griffith; step-grandson, Wyatt; and siblings, Michael (Dennis) Ziegenhorn and Christine Bacon.

He is preceded in death by his father, Maurice.
