LILA E. SYMMONDS

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Lila E. Symmonds, 79, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Harmony Place in Davenport surrounded by her family.

Celebration of Life will be held between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the VFW. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made in her honor to her husband, Mike. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com

Lila was born on June 8, 1945, in Muscatine at the Hershey Hospital, the daughter of Elmer Sr. and Laura Mae Dusenberry Walker. She married Michael ‘Old Mike’ Symmonds on January 2, 1970, in Muscatine.

Through the years, she worked at CDS, the ball diamond concessions, and had done nursing home care. Most of all she enjoyed spending her time raising her family.

She enjoyed scratch off lottery tickets, word puzzles, and playing bingo. She loved going to yard sales.

 Lila is survived by her husband, Mike; son, Archie Symmonds and his wife, Stacy and her children and grandchildren; Lila and Mike’s grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Ashleigh Goodrich and her husband, Nathon, Traye Brown and his friend, Rick, and Jayson Symmonds; great grandchildren, Kaylyn Brown, Erica White, Jazzmin Brown, and Jaenelle Goodrich; siblings, Mary Dennis, Susan Gatton, and Evelyn Bunn; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; children, Tina Symmonds, Monty Symmonds, and Michelle Brown; and siblings, Charles Walker, Elmer ‘Pete’ Walker Jr., Winifred Mullink, Patricia Fleming, Jean Buck, Lester ‘Lee’ Walker, and Nancy Fleming.
