MUSCATINE, Iowa – Lola D. Aull (age 100) went home to the Lord on September 17, 2026.
Funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, 10:30 a.m., at Saints Mary & Mathias Church. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with a Rosary service following.
She was born on January 30, 1926, at her home outside of Illinois City. She loved her childhood on the farm where she cared for and played with all the animals. She attended the one-room schoolhouse through eighth grade and then walked the old high bridge to attend the new high school in Muscatine, graduating in 1943.
She married Leonard Aull on September 24, 1950, and together they raised four children.
She loved reading, dancing, playing the piano and doing crossword puzzles. In the summer she tended her flowers and in the winter she watched the many birds who visited the feeders. She was a very good cook although it wasn’t her favorite activity. Her chocolate chip cookies were famous to family and friends. She loved the Chicago Cubs and her beloved Chicago Bulls. Watching PCA this summer made her very happy. Her stories and sneaky sense of humor will be greatly missed.
She is survived by: Her children Joe, Lennis and Roxanne of Muscatine; and Ron (Mary) of Cedar Rapids. Her grandchildren Joel, Becca (Andrew), Jessie, Bryan (Kelly), Alex, and Ashley (Nate). Her great-grandchildren Abby, Lola, Jenna, Hayden, Cameron, and Hannah. Her special niece Sandra.
She has been reunited with her husband Leonard, parents Fred and Mary, brother Maynard, sisters Laura May and Elda, sister-in-law Karleen, brother-in-law Elmo, and daughter-in-law Connie.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers of UnityPoint Hospice and Home Instead. All of you became family to her. With your help, Mom was able to live her last seven months at home. It was a gift beyond measure.
