LORI SUE HORST

TIPTON, IA – Lori Sue Horst, 70, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Boonie’s on the Ave. The Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Lori was born on October 25, 1955, in Muscatine, the daughter of Arnold O. and Janet Tobias Ward. She married Arthur ‘Art’ Horst on February 14, 1992, at the Faith United Church of Christ.

Lori worked at HON at the Geneva and Allsteel plant. Later, she worked at the school cafeteria in Durant.

Lori enjoyed camping, being on the river and boating, and traveling. She enjoyed the history of lighthouses, riding motorcycles, feeding and watching the birds. She was a foodie and would love going out to eat. She also loved going to the Galena Craft Shows. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. 

Lori is survived by her husband, Art of Tipton; children, Toby (Sarah) Kern of Letts, Landon (Alisa) Krueger of Moline, Illinois, and Chandler (Derek) Wehmeyer of Tipton; grandchildren, Maleah (Alex) Wright of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, Arianna (Thomas) Burns of Muscatine, Hannah Brennen of Duncan, Oklahoma, Mathew Brennan of Moline, Illinois, and Carter Wehmeyer of Tipton; three great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lynne (Jeff) Schroeder, Rebecca Porter, Trina Ward, and Nancy Ward; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Mark ‘Wardy’ Ward and Tom Ward; and grandparents, Elmer ‘Toby’ and Margaret Tobias.
