MARTHA LEZA

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Martha S. Leza, 70, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Trinity Rock Island, surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, with a Rosary Prayer Service to be held at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Ss. Mary Mathias Church. The Reverend Chris Weber will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date. Online Condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com

Martha was born on December 7, 1955, in Mercedes, Texas, the daughter of Guadalupe and Maria Elva Rivera. She married Juan Leza on July 2, 1976, in Muscatine.

Martha was a member of Ss. Mary Mathias Catholic Church and provided daycare for over 30 years. Martha was an amazing cook! She was known for her famous breakfast burritos and tamales. She enjoyed family gatherings, watching the Hallmark Channel, walking, gardening, dancing, and attending grandchildren’s sporting events.

Martha is survived by her husband, Juan of Muscatine; four children, Elva Leza-Watson (Terrence) of Muscatine, Andres Leza (Amy Kamel) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Marcos Leza (Karrie) of Clive, Iowa, and Ofelia Leza (Cruz Cohn), of Muscatine: six grandchildren, Avian, Taryn, Mia, Arthur, Kora, and Munira; and one sister, Nikaela Rivera (Gustavo); and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and daycare kids she helped raise.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother.
