MARVIN EUGENE PLANK

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Marvin Eugene Plank, 68, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Premier Estates in Muscatine.

No services will be held.  Cremation will be carried out by Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.

Marvin was born on November 18, 1955, in Muscatine, the son of Marvin and Rosalee (Wakeland) Plank.  He graduated from Muscatine High School and would go on to marry Victoria Yerington.  Together they had one daughter, Martha.  They would later divorce.

Marvin owned and operated Vicki’s Gift and Pawn in downtown Muscatine for 30 years.

As an avid singer, guitarist, and creative songwriter, Marvin’s main passion in life was his love for making music and performing for audiences across the Midwest.  He was proud of his original music, the recordings that he made, and the collaborations he had with other local musicians. 

He had a deep and abiding love for wolves and dogs in general, specifically his dogs Bella, Luna, and Silk.  He also loved to fish flathead on the Cedar River with “the cutoff” being one of his favorite places.

He is survived by his daughter, Martha McGourty; two grandchildren, Isaac McGourty and Hannah McGourty; one great-grandchild, Paisley Anne; siblings, Timothy Plank, Patrick Plank, and Lori Dusenberry; and long-time friends, Madonna Suri and Chad McCleary.
