MARY JO ‘JODY’ CHALUPA
MUSCATINE, Iowa – Mary Jo ‘Jody’ Chalupa, 69, of Stockton, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019, at her home.
Per Jody’s wishes, she was cremated and there will be no services. Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Shelter in Jody’s memory. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com
Jody was born on November 1, 1950, in Davenport, the daughter of Larry and Joann Chalupa Zier. She was adopted and raised by Walter E. ‘Walt’ and Willodean C. ‘Willie’ McCleary Chalupa. Walt preceded her in death on November 19, 2000 and Willie on December 12, 2007.
Jody loved animals and rescued many cats. She enjoyed gardening, growing vegetables and flowers and had worked at Radio Shack and Walmart.
Jody is survived by her girlfriend of twenty five years, Dorothy Parker, of Stockton; her biological mother, Joann Schmidt and her husband Eric; three sisters, Bobbie Kissell, of Washington, Linda Tate and Andrea Riess, both of Springfield, Illinois; and her nephew, Michael Chalupa.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Walt and Willie Chalupa, her biological father, Larry Zier, her brother, Donald Lee Chalupa, her nephew, Eric Schmidt Jr. and her great nephew, Rodney Kissell.
