MAURICE ALLEN ZIEGENHORN

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Maurice Allen Ziegenhorn, 90, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at his home.

There will be no services, per the family’s request. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Maurice was born on November 4, 1933, in Illinois, the son of Ira and Alberta Martin Ziegenhorn. He married Willa Jean Shoultz on October 1, 1952, in Washington, Iowa.

He was a 1952 graduate of Muscatine High School where he was Class President, Representative Boy, in the National Honor Society, and was an all-state football player, receiving the Bill Roach award.

Maurice was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 11th Airborne Division. He retired from Monsanto in the late 1990’s.

Maurice enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, the outdoors, and helping people. He was the ‘go to guy’.

He is survived by his wife, Willa Jean Ziegenhorn; three children, Christine, Kim, and Michael; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one brother, Harlan.

He is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.
