MAXINE Y. JOHNSON

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Maxine Y. Johnson, 69, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Trinity Rock Island.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, in her honor. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com

Maxine was born on October 19, 1955, in Harvey, Illinois, the daughter of Max H. and Phyllis A. Brewer Colberg. She married Robert ‘Bob’ Johnson and had two children together, Toby and Brandy. They later divorced.

She retired from Walmart after 25 years and loved traveling all over the country. She enjoyed yard selling, going to the casino, and having breakfast at Hy-Vee. She was all about her family and was very involved with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nephew.

Maxine is survived by her significate other of 22 years, Gail McDowell of Muscatine; two children, Toby Johnson of Muscatine, and Brandy Johnson of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, Tyler Brooks (Cindy), DeVante Brooks, DeShawn Williams (Ann), Ariel Johnson (Cirilo Jr.), Robert ‘Dalton’ Johnson, Danielle Tersteeg Johnson, Payton Karg; 13 great grandchildren, Maddox Swailes, TyRuis Brooks, Sofia Brooks, Samara Brooks, Santi Brooks, Keaton Brooks, Lennox Brooks, Desarie Williams, Zayla Avellaneda, Adeli Avellaneda, Vesuvius Avellaneda, Princeton Karg, and baby Karg due soon; three siblings, Brenda Wagaman, Dawn Kaska (Duane), and Kim Shoultz (Max); and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; ex-husband, Robert Johnson; grandson, Trayvont Dean Williams; and brother-in-law, Sharm Wagaman.
