MELISSA McCREADY

TRURO, Nova Scotia, Canada – Melissa McCready, 54, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at University of Iowa Hospital.

Melissa was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, on October 6, 1970, the daughter of Estelle Foulkes.

She spent her free time outside hiking, gardening or knitting and sewing costumes, clothes, and quilts.  Melissa collected sticks, rocks, and pinecones.  Her favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas.  She enjoyed baking bread and pies.  Melissa was a gamer.  Some of her favorite games were Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto.  She enjoyed watching Golden Girls, Little House on the Prairie, North & South, West World, Supernatural, and The Walking Dead.  Melissa liked to have horror movie nights while eating pizza.  But most of all, she loved being a Meemaw.  

Melissa is survived by her daughter, Justice Sack-McCready and her husband Daniel; one grandson, Malachi; and one nephew Dylan and his family. 

She is preceded in death by her mom, Estelle Foulkes; and a sister, Dena Drummond.
