MICHAEL FRANTZ

MUSCATINE, IA – Michael Frantz, 71, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, home.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Reverend Chris Weber will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Humane Society. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Michael was born on April 16, 1955, in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, the son of Earl B. and Janice Murphy Frantz. He married Diane Phelps on April 26, 1986, at the St. Mathias Church in Muscatine.

Michael was a riverboat captain, worked at Allsteel, and was a member of the Ss. Mary and Mathias Catholic Church.

Michael enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid Hawkeyes and Packers fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandkids and car rides and ice cream trips with Paige.

Michael is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Michael (Casey) Frantz, Paige (Scotty) Wymer, and Ethan (Savannah) Frantz; grandchildren, Avery Frantz, Penelopy Frantz, Gage Frantz, Gannon Frantz, and Wyatt Frantz; and siblings, Kathy (Jim) Cottrell, Roxanne Musser, Pat (Mike) Beals, Bobbi (Mike) Chaplin, Mark (Laurie) Frantz, and Shelley (Bill Wall) Watson.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
