MICHAEL RICHARD MORRISSEY

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Michael Richard Morrissey, 75 passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at his home.

Private graveside service will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. A time of gathering will be held at Sal Vitale’s on Park Avenue on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 5 until 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be left at www.witthichfuneralhome.com.

Michael was born on September 30, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. He was adopted by Richard and Helen Morrissey and raised in Muscatine. He married the love of his life, Becky, on November 7, 1987, in Coldwater, Michigan.

He grew up going to the Ss. Mathias Catholic Church. Michael graduated from Hayes Catholic School in 1967. He later attended Muscatine Community College from 1975-1977. He moved to Michigan and attended Michigan State where he received his bachelor’s in journalism in 1979. Michael served in the Air Force from 1968-1972, serving in Vietnam between 1970-1971. He also served in the Michigan National Guard for four years. He worked at the Daily Reporter as a managing editor in Michigan. He later worked in various places including the Art Center in Muscatine and Menards in the hardware and inventory for 20 years.

Michael enjoyed the outdoors whether it was sitting in the sun, walking at Wild Cat Den, or working in the yard. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved watching the car races. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Solitaire.

Michael is survived by his wife, Becky; children, Tom (Kara) Morrissey, Brian (Gabby) Morrissey, Chris Morrissey, and Melissa Morrissey; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Hank, Eloise, and Henry; two great grandchildren, Harper and Delilah; and his grandpuppy, Fritz.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
