NANCY EILEEN LAWRENCE

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Nancy Eileen Lawrence, 85, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Lutheran Living.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the church. Bishop Brent Fillmore and Elder Steve Gordon will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Mike for Lewy Body Dementia Research. The Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Nancy was born on November 8, 1940, in Mount Sterling at her grandparents’ home, the daughter of Jacob Russell and Esther Kathleen Bennett Sedore. She married Fred ‘Fritz’ Chambers in 1957. They had one daughter, Freda, and later divorced. She then married Michael ‘Mike’ Lawrence on June 27, 1974, in Muscatine at the Spangler Chapel.

Nancy was the oldest of 16 children. She worked at Montgomery Ward, Stiles Hardware and Drug, Walker’s Jewelry, and a homemaker.

Nancy enjoyed gardening flowers, sewing, painting, and knick knacks. She enjoyed going for car rides, clipping coupons, having and going to yard sales throughout the town. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family at family gatherings.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Michael E. Lawrence; her daughter, Freda (Larry) VanHouten; stepsons, Ron (Tammy) Lawrence, Brian (Lucero) Lawrence, Keith (Katie) Lawrence, and Steve (Amber) Lawrence; siblings, Susan Parrish, William Sedore, Linda (Kevin) Hermiston, Phyllis (Donnie) Mitchell, Cynthia Kisling, Candace (Kenny) Horstman, Lloyd Sedore, Lyle (Katy) Sedore, Peggy (Dennis) Troutman, and Marty (Cherri Marie) Sedore; grandchildren, Nathan Skinner, Stacey (Terry) Neeld, Erin Phillips, Eric Lawrence, Alia (Andrew) Simpson, Blayke (Ashton) Grimm, Cole (Maddison) Lawrence, Jaryd Lawrence, Alec Lawrence, Tyler Lawrence, and Liam Lawrence; great grandchildren, Lillian Skinner, Wesley Simpson, Archer Grimm,  Anderson Grimm, Adair Grimm, and Hunter Lawrence; and lots and lots of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Harold (Pete) Sedore, Carol Pruden, David (Bud) Sedore, Robert (Bobby) Sedore, and Monte (Joe) Sedore.
