ODETTA PIPPERT
MUSCATINE, Iowa – Odetta Pippert, 99, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Simpson Memorial, West Liberty, surrounded by her family.
A private funeral service will be held. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Youth of Nichols Christian Church. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Odetta was born on December 11, 1926, in Nichols. She was one of four children born to Harold and Blanche Christofferson Carter. On April 9, 1939, she was baptized in the Christian (Disciples of Christ) Nichols, Iowa Church. She graduated from Nichols High School in 1944. On December 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to Kenneth ‘Sam’ Pippert, and they were blessed with three children.
Her first job was at the Burlington Ammunition Plant, she later worked as a telephone operator, and then at the Green Stamp store. She retired from the Treasures office in Muscatine as the Deputy Clerk in the automotive licensing department.
She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, and cross stitching. She loved her children, grandchildren, and spending time with her family.
Odetta is survived by her children, Gary (Pam) Pippert of Muscatine, Jeanne Wood of Lady Lake, Florida, and Debra (Kevin) Cannon of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Wendy Pippert, Shawn (Danielle) Pippert, Bo Wood, Paula Tate, Tyler (Bethany) Cannon and their children, Colby and Mae, and Brady Cannon (Ashley) and their children, Jackson; and sister Shirley Dodson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; Son-in-law, Paul Wood; brother, Donald Carter; and sister, Murna Howell.
