PERFECTO COLÓN PERAZA JR.

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Perfecto Colón Peraza Jr., 63, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Perfecto’s honor in care of Joseph and Jessica for a tree at the Muscatine Arboretum. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Perfecto was born in Jersey City but grew up in Puerto Rico and after graduating from High School he joined the US Army (Army Reserve). He was very proud of his Puerto Rican heritage. He moved to Muscatine in 1983 and over the years worked at Northern Gravel, Fridley Theatre, and the Muscatine YMCA.

Perfecto loved his cat, King Soto. He was a proud father, grandfather, and was a good friend to many people.

During his lifetime, he shared his life with two very special ladies, Wendy Wetzel, mother of his eldest son, Joseph and Lori Moore, mother of his daughter, Jessica.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Colón and Samantha Kerr; his daughter, Jessica L. Colón and partner, Emmanuel; five grandchildren, Bentley, Barrett, Brailyn, Casey, and Waynne; his father, Perfecto Colón Rivera, Sr.; and his sisters, Maribel Colón Peraza and Grisel Colón Mendoza (Mario).

Perfecto was preceded in death by his mother, Miriam Peraza Ramírez; paternal and maternal grandparents; maternal great grandparents, Mario Ramírez Vega (Pai) and Rosaio Parrilla Ramírez (Mai), whom were very significant in his life.
