Raymond Oscar Miller Jr. Obituary
RAYMOND OSCAR MILLER JR.
MUSCATINE, Iowa – Raymond Oscar Miller Jr., born March 12, 1941, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A lifelong resident of Muscatine, Ray was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, humor, and steady presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. He was the son of Raymond Oscar Miller Sr. and Vera Mary Jens Miller, who instilled in him the values of hard work, loyalty, and family.
Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nellie Job Miller, with whom he shared a beautiful life and raised two daughters he cherished deeply. He is survived by Angie Miller Stych, married to Mike, and their three sons - Craig (Ren), Joseph (Tiffany), and Samuel (Teagan); and by Dora Miller, and her two sons, Dillon Sears (Jessica) and Lucas Sears (Rachel).
Later in life, Ray found companionship and joy with his second wife, Sharon Rost Miller. He lovingly embraced her children as his own, Dustin Miller (Kim) and Christopher Miller (Theresa) and loved the family they built together. Ray was the proud grandfather of eight great-grandchildren (Spencer, Naomi, Ethan, Evan, Layne, Grayson, Madyson, and Maliya) each of whom brought him immense joy. He was overjoyed to have two additions to the Miller/Stych family in 2026.
Ray enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with the Monsanto Company, where he formed lasting friendships and took great pride in his work. He adored his sisters - Grace Ann Boynton and Peggy Schroeder (Lee) - and remained close to them throughout his life.
A man with many passions, Ray loved cars, the open water, fish frys, family cookouts and cheering for his Iowa Hawkeyes. Whether enjoying a drive, telling stories, or spending time with family, he lived with enthusiasm, generosity, and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
A private graveside service will be held this spring, and a fish fry celebration of his life will bring together friends and family this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Muscatine Humane Society. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com
