ROBERT ‘BOB’ DUANE SHARAR

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Robert ‘Bob’ Duane Sharar, 82, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, at his home.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge or the Faith United Church of Christ in Muscatine. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com

Funeral Service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the funeral home. Pastor Paris White will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Following the burial, a time of food and fellowship will take place at Faith United Church of Christ.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m., on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 2559 Bayfield Road, Muscatine.

Bob was born on December 18, 1943, in Muscatine, the son of Robert F. and Vivian M. Paul Sharar. He married Karren Newcomb on April 6, 1968, at the Faith United Church of Christ in Muscatine.

Bob graduated from Muscatine High School and Muscatine Community College. He served in the United States Army from 1965 – 1967, stationed in Germany. Then in the Army National Guard from 1968 – 1970. He retired from H. J. Heinz in 1997 after 34 years of employment. He was a past member of the Moose, Elks and American Legion. He was a life member of Faith United Church of Christ in Muscatine.

Bob truly enjoyed the outdoors, specifically hunting, fishing, camping, and cutting wood. He also found great joy in driving his tractor, singing, and dancing. He spent his winter months in Fort Myers, Florida, and always cherished the time he spent on the farm. Above all, his greatest love was spending time with his family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Karren Sharar; sons, Andrew F. Sharar and Nickolas D. (Laurel) Sharar; grandchildren, Anna, Nathan, Cole, and Keaton Sharar; sister, Cindy Mammel; and brother-in-law, Floyd (Tisha) Newcomb.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; brother, Richard Sharar; in-laws, Floyd and Lenora Newcomb; and brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Sharren Houseman.
