RUTH SHIELD HAVEMANN

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Ruth Shield Havemann, 99, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Premier Estates.

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Kayla Lange-Carney will be officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Ruth’s honor to the family for Multiple Sclerosis, American Cancer Society, or the National Kidney Foundation. Ruth was born on December 17, 1924, in Muscatine, the daughter of Eunice (Bowser) and Lloyd Shield. She married Clayton Havemann in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1945. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2001.

They made their home and raised their children together. Ruth loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She worked as a secretary at Grant Elementary School for many years.

Ruth is survived by 4 children, Charles and Kathy Havemann of Muscatine, Carleton and Sue Havemann of Shell Knob, Missouri, Lloyd and Theresa Havemann of Muscatine, and Lisa Havemann and Jeff Miller of Tea, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Doug Felton of Campton Hills, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; daughter, Barbara Felton; brothers, Rich, Walter and George Shield; sisters, Beverly Thomas and Gerri Kochneff.
