MUSCATINE, Iowa – Ryle Ann Maelee McFarland, 20, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Funeral Service for the McFarland family will be 10:30 a.m., on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Ss. Mary Mathias Church. Ryle was born on August 18, 2005, in Iowa, the daughter of Ryan and Lesa Purinton McFarland.

Ryle was a May 2026 graduate of UNI’s College of Education. She earned her degree with a major in elementary education and a minor in social emotional learning. She completed her student teaching in the Muscatine School District this spring and was expected to begin her professional career as a third-grade teacher at McKinley Elementary in Muscatine this fall. She was a member of a college ministry at UNI called Chi Alpha.

Ryle enjoyed singing and dancing, filling rooms with laughter and happiness. Creative at heart, she loved making crafts and expressing herself through art and photography. She was active and adventurous, enjoying tennis, softball, working out, and taking walks outdoors. She had a special love for butterflies. Above all, she cherished spending time with friends and family, whether she was playing games, sharing stories, or enjoying the company of those she loved. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found comfort, strength, and community through attending church.

Ryle is survived by her brother, Johnathan McFarland.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ryan and Lesa McFarland and siblings, Mark McFarland, Ryan Scott McFarland, Dakota Whitlow, Austin Harris.
