SARA JO PHILLIPS

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Sara Jo Phillips, 85, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Lutheran Living.

Services will be held at a later date. The Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family, in care of Amber Bowers. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Sara was born on September 4, 1940, in Hannibal, Missouri, the daughter of James and Dorothy Almandinger Marshall. She married Ronald Kirk Phillips on June 15, 1957. He preceded her in death.

Sara worked at JcPenney, Starkist, and Hungry Hobo. She was a member of the First Assembly of God.

Sara enjoyed all kinds of art, especially painting. She enjoyed reading the bible, word searches, fishing, gardening. She cherished the moments she spent with her husband, especially traveling together. Most of all, she loved her grandkids.

Sara is survived by her daughter, Vicki Dusenberry; grandchildren, Joshua Phillips, Sara (Kevin) Jeffery, Katie (Nate) Manchester, Amber (Matt) Bowers, Michael Job, Carla (David) Gatzke, Steven Dusenberry, Glen (Dawn) Dusenberry, and Melissa Dusenberry; great grandchildren, Bryce, Drake, Collin, Evelyn, Claire, Alianna, Chyann, Talen, Chloe, Macguire, Hannah, Eleanor, Adeline, and Lorelei; daughter-in-law, Ann Phillips; and son-in-law, Cloyce Job.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald; son, James ‘Jim’ Phillips; daughter, Lisa Job; brother, James Marshall; and son-in-law, Glen Dusenberry.
